How Do I Meet People?
First Baptist Church is not a place for spectators. It is a place for team members. Whether you are a five-year old child, a ninety-five year old grandmother, a busy mom, or a businessman with big responsibilities, we want you to be a part of our vibrant church community. Here is how you can learn, serve, and grow at First Baptist Church.
Children
Each Sunday morning, children get to participate in their own Sunday School classes. Bible lessons are taught in such a way that every child gets to participate and learn. Each of the class teachers is carefully screened and trained in children’s instruction. During the worship service, a junior church service is provided for children. On Wednesdays, children get involved in AWANA, a time of Scripture memory, fun games, and a Bible lesson.
Teens
Teens have numerous opportunities for fellowship, service, and teaching at First Baptist Church. Both Jr. High and Sr. High teens have their own Sunday School classes that meet before the worship service. On Wednesday nights, the Youth Group meets for a time of games and preaching. Every month the Youth Group has other exciting activities as well, such as the annual Outpost Volleyball event, the POST-UP Basketball Tournament, and a trip to Cedar Point.
Young Adults
Life can get complicated once you cross that nebulous threshold into adulthood. There are complicated decisions. Bigger stakes. Serious relationships. And a whole lot more decisions. Pathfinders, the young adult group of First Baptist Church provides a welcoming atmosphere for college and early-career aged young people. They meet for Sunday School every week, go out for a noon lunch the second Sunday of every month and have several other activities.
Young Married Couples
Even though marriage is one of the most important institutions, it is the one which is under the most attack–internally and externally. First Baptist Church provides teaching on the establishment of a Biblical foundation for marriage and family for young married couples during the Sunday School hour. These couples also meet together regularly in members’ homes for fellowship and service.
Sunday School Groups
Every week before the morning service, many Sunday School groups of all ages and stages of life meet throughout the church building to fellowship, pray for one another, organize opportunities for service, and to study God’s Word.
Women’s Group
The ladies in our church family have several special times of interaction. A women’s Bible study meets Monday nights, women gather together to pray for revival Friday mornings, and other fellowship activities are scheduled on a monthly basis. These events provide a refreshing discipleship opportunity for the women in the church.
Men’s Group
The men of First Baptist Church meet together regularly for prayer and fellowship (and of course, food) at a local restaurant each month. Men also fellowship regularly in a summer softball league, fall and winter bowling leagues, and other sporting and non-sporting events.
Seniors
Once you reach the Young at Heart, our seniors group, the fun has just begun. Whether retired, just plain tired, or active as ever, the over-55 group of First Baptist Church provides refreshment, ministry, and times of valuable interaction.
